Prickly Pedal Bike Race

The Prickly Pedal Mountain Bike Race is coming back to Peoria on Saturday, April 1 at 8:30 a.m., after being postponed for weather on Jan. 21. Located in the heart of the Sonoran Desert, the race winds through the northern section of the Maricopa Trail, the Valley’s emerald ring—a seamless connection of beautiful desert and challenging terrain with scenic views and near-perfect riding conditions.

Featuring an approximately 40-mile bike course, the Prickly Pedal is a showcase of Maricopa Trail diversity that starts in Cave Creek and finishes with a celebration at Lake Pleasant. Aggressive ascents and descents, grinding it out on the flats, rocks, water, sand, mud, and roller coaster runs are all part of the fun of this challenging course.

All proceeds from the race go to support the Maricopa Trail and Park Foundation. The after party and award ceremonies will begin at 3 p.m. at Lake Pleasant and includes refreshments, a free raffle ticket, a beer garden and live music. For details, visit http://pricklypedal.com/.
