PEORIA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

The program works by analyzing historical data, crime trends, special events, school information, weather information and several other factors to determine the “missions” for the day.  “Mission” areas are 250 square meter boxes which the program has indicated as having a high potential of crime occurring.

These “missions” are created prior to the beginning of each patrol shift, and presented to officers during their shift briefings.  Officers are deployed in each “mission” area throughout the day and conduct high visibility enforcement in the designated boundaries.  Officers document this deployment through the use of the in-car computer system.

Peoria officers have completed approximately 1,650 deployments since September 2015, when we launched our pilot program. HunchLab deployments have already placed officers in locations where they have observed a burglary in progress and suspicious subjects, resulting in the arrest of several individuals.  The crime prevention effect will continually be analyzed based on previous crime trends and rates.
