PEORIA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

February is Teen Dating Violence Prevention Month

Adolescence is a time when many youth become involved in romantic relationships. For most youth, these early romantic relationships are positive and healthy experiences,
but for an estimated 33% of youth, they are abusive and violent. It is important for all of us to proactively talk to kids about teen dating abuse BEFORE it starts and increase
their confidence and skills to build healthy relationships.

This BLOOM for Healthy Relationships™ workshop, delivered by Donna Bartos of GoPurple.org, is designed for parents, grandparents, teachers, community members and teens. Attendees will leave with:
· Tools to start the conversation about healthy relationships and teen dating abuse with tweens and teens
· A deeper understanding of what causes teen dating abuse
· An overview of the solutions for preventing teen dating abuse and domestic violence from spreading into next generations
· Information on local resources to help teens experiencing dating abuse
