About Us

SIERRA CASCADE FAMILY OPPORTUNITIES is a private non-profit corporation established in January of 1989. The name “Sierra Cascade” is derived from the joining of the Sierra Nevada and Cascade mountain ranges within the four counties of service – Lassen, Modoc, Plumas and Sierra Valley. “Family Opportunities”, the other portion of our name, depicts just what we would like to offer the many families who will be touched by our service, an opportunity to grow and learn about themselves, their children and the communities in which they live.

OUR MISSION: To operate early childhood development programs that provide quality educational and support services to children, families and staff throughout Lassen, Modoc, Plumas and Sierra Valley Counties.

We have eight Head Start preschool centers in five communities; Quincy, Portola, Susanville, Herlong, and Alturas. Additionally, we have a home based program in Honey Lake Valley.

Our centers have morning classes, afternoon classes and full day classes available. Applications are taken year-round.
