Painting the human figure, bright color, rich color excites me more
than landscape paintings of flowers, beautiful outdoor scenes, colorful seascapes all these images make me jealous when I see really great art with those popular subjects and images .

You know what really gets me going -- studying the really great figure painting.--great art and the greatest artists of the past. I love studying the true masters artists and draftsman of the past., Goya, Degas, Michelangelo, Peter Paul Rubens, Pontormo and many others
I love taking their amazing paintings apart
As one would take a watch apart to see how it is made, I study them, and when I see something I never noticed before, some sort of aesthetic principle at work in one of their paintings, maybe two figures that are almost in the same position but heading in different directions or one painting of a face or head that is rendered flat and played against two other heads that are more three dimensional.
Then I get into my studio and see if I can play with something similar, try what I see them doing.

Plumas County -- An Art Community
For me, I work at being a serious artist. Its not a hobby. Hobbies are terrific for arts and crafts types. You can their work everywhere in Quincy and Plumas County, in frame shops sold as gifts. We even have a very fine museum here. Perhaps one day we will have more museums.
The outstanding local artists in Quincy. Many can be seen at the Main Street Artists Gallery in Quincy, where I exhibit and teach art classes, is the finest gallery in Plumas County . There are fine art prints and fine art original paintings and drawings to be seen, outstanding art and artists and some of the best painters in Plumas County, some of the best art and paintings in Quincy and in Plumas County California.
