Teams Forming for the 2011 Adult Softball Season (03/22/11)
“We would like to encourage new players and teams from around the area to come out and participate this season. Adult softball is a great way to spend time with friends, family, and co-workers, in an environment that promotes physical and social well-being”, stated Recreation and Park District sports and recreation coordinator, Jeren Seibel. In addition, the Recreation District is seeking individuals interested in umpiring for the league. Training will be provided. “Being an umpire over the summer is a great way to get connected with the community, make some money, and have fun”, said Seibel. Anyone interested in becoming an umpire is encouraged to contact the Recreation and Park District.
New players that would like to get connected with a team or individuals interested in forming a new team are invited to contact the Recreation District at 283-3278 or 34 Fairground Rd. in Quincy. Returning players for all divisions are encouraged to sign up promptly through their team manager.
About Us
The Central Plumas Recreation and Park District was formed by a voter mandate in 1953. The District is dedicated to providing a wide variety of recreation and park opportunities to the residents of Quincy, Meadow Valley and the outlying areas located within its political boundaries.
The District offers a number of different activities and programs for both youth and adults, including, but not limited to: Swim lessons, pool rental, swim team, adult softball, tennis lessons, youth soccer, soccer camp, dog obedience, youth and adult basketball, and a jr. ski team. The District also manages Pioneer Park, Lowell Bader Park, the Quincy Skate Park, Pioneer Pool, and Pioneer Park Annex.
The District is governed by a publicly elected Board of Directors that meets in open session on the fourth Wednesday of each month. Funding for the District comes from a combination of sources including local property tax (60%), park and recreation activity fees (34%) and other miscellaneous sources (6%).
