Letter from Brad Williamson, President Islanders Bank

For the current COVID-19 situation, Islanders Bank has long had a Pandemic Plan which includes steps for preparing and responding to a widespread pandemic illness.  The preparedness and response procedures in our plan assist us in maintaining employee and customer safety while allowing for the continued operation of our bank.   We also test our plan regularly, which ensures that it will serve us appropriately when we need it.

We view ourselves as a partner in your success, which includes having procedures for sharing important information with you and your business.   Below is short list of considerations that we have addressed in our own pandemic plan.  We also encourage you to learn more about what you can do for your own business.

Islanders Bank Pandemic Planning Considerations
  • Encourage vaccinations, when available
  • Wash your hands & cover your cough; consider placing signage to encourage others
  • Employee illness; recommend staying at home when sick
  • Keep kitchens and breakrooms clean; wash dishes and disinfect surfaces daily
  • Dispose of waste daily; wear hand protection and wash your hands after emptying waste cans
  • Clean daily and throughout the day; flat surfaces, kiosks, ATMs, telephones, keyboards, mice, handrails, pens, elevator buttons, etc.
  • Social distancing; allow for distance between yourself and those who are sick
  • Allow employees to telecommute; test existing technology to ensure it works when you need it
  • Use personal protective equipment according to best practice; gloves & masks
  • Review personnel policies; sick time, extended leave, employee assistance program
  • Cross-train employees; consider having a back-up for critical business functions
  • Redirect customers; develop and offer alternatives to walk-in business
  • Communicate with employees & stakeholders; have a single point of contact and clear messaging
  • Consider how business may be impacted if a vendor is unable to provide standard services
  • Heed advice from local, state & federal health agencies
