Letter from Anna Coffelt, Mullis Center Manager

We are charged with keeping people safe, and we are also charged with providing services that support our Seniors and Disabled.  Our staff and District Committee leaders are in constant communication about how to best move forward in this moment. We are working in collaboration with Whatcom Council On Aging (WCOA) leadership, San Juan County, as well as designated representatives from Orcas and Lopez Senior Centers, to identify the next steps to take, in service to protecting those we serve, while addressing their ongoing needs.

The County Health Department is not currently recommending community actions such as Senior Center closures.  We will stay in close communication as things develop. If we need to cancel programs or close facilities, we will communicate through our normal channels including email, phone message, Facebook, our website and other online venues.    We know many people depend on our community hot meals and we are investigating the viability of to-go meals for pick up in case of a facility closure. We are also exploring the expansion of our Meals on Wheels home delivery for those in need.
