Chamber Presentation Folder

Chamber of Commerce

The San Juan Island Chamber of Commerce is offering our members an opportunity to make a great first impression on prospective new residents, new Chamber members, dignitaries and others. One of our members, Purkey & Assoc. is producing a Chamber Presentation Folder for our Chamber. These folders will be in full color with a supply to be utilized for at least one full year. They will contain Chamber collateral to feature relocation information for prospective new residents, new businesses and many other uses to help promote Our Community, Our Chamber and Your Business. This is also a fundraiser for our Chamber.

There are a limited number of sponsorship positions available. Each spot, regardless of location includes all production cost for a full color presentation of your business for the entire year.  This program offers an exceptional value for everyone who participates. To reserve a sponsorship for your business simply call 503 707-6276 now and ask us to hold a spot for you! Chamber members must be in good standing to participate.

All Chamber members (plus your families/friends!) are encouraged to participate in the County-wide 2017 Great Islands Clean-Up, which will be held on Earth Day, Saturday, April 22, from 9 a.m. to noon, rain or shine. The Town of Friday Harbor does a terrific job regularly picking up litter from the sidewalks and gutters in the downtown area.  But each of us can contribute to the island’s overall effort by making sure that the areas around our businesses are free of litter, and also by checking the streets in front of our homes and around our neighborhoods.

Update on History Museum Archival Project

Celebrating its 50th year as a museum in 2016, the San Juan Historical Society and Museum is concentrating on 2017 as the year to prepare the archives, buildings and grounds for the next 50 years.  In January, twenty volunteers began working on the real foundation of the museum:  the archival collection.  Every day, even when it was snowing, volunteers trooped into the Etta Egeland Resource Center to spend two hour shifts sorting through a variety of documents, artifacts and historic treasures to place the objects into a category to be addressed later in the project timeline.

Glen Campbell: I’ll Be Me (directed by James Keach) follows Glen and his family as they together fight the biggest battle of his life. After his devastating diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease in 2011, Glen and his wife Kim decided to go public with their private tragedy – the first time a major American celebrity would share this kind of experience with the world. Glen had been told to hang up his guitar and prepare for the inevitable; instead, he and his family set out on a five-week “Goodbye Tour” across America — something that turned into an emotional and triumphant 151-show nationwide tour de force spanning18 months. The film documents the family’s amazing journey as they attempt to navigate the wildly unpredictable nature of Glen’s progressing disease using love, laughter and music as their medicine of choice.
