On Saturday, April 22, the “Gear Up” Workshop will be held at the San Juan Island Grange Hall in Friday Harbor from 10 am to 4 pm. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. for registration. Invited presenters include: Lynne Barre (NOAA) on the status of Southern Resident Killer Whales; Sandie O’Neill (NOAA) and Suzanna Stoike (Puget Sound Partnership) on the status of water quality within Puget Sound; Jennifer Johnson (GSRO) on the status of salmon recovery in Washington; and Marla Holt (NOAA) on the status of ocean sound/noise in the Pacific Northwest. The registration fee is $35 for non-members; $25 for TWM or SSAMN members. A no-host reception will follow the session on Saturday evening at Mike’s Café & Wine Bar. On Sunday, April 23rd, a CPR/First Aid Training will be taught by San Juan Island EMS staff from 9 am- 5pm at the San Juan Island EMS Building. This training is designed to allow for marine naturalists to get certified in CPR/First Aid within a single day. The registration fee is $35 for non-members; $25 for TWM or SSAMN members. Lunch can be pre-ordered for an additional $12 per day.
