Annual San Juan Island Lavender Festival

July 15-16, 2017 - 10am-5pm - Free Admission
See lavender: tours and exhibits survey the entire process – from field to finished product. The fields are open for strolling, relaxing and breathtaking photo ops. We'll be joined by over 30 local artists who will have their work on display and for sale in the fields. Local musicians will be serenading us throughout the day. Be sure to bring your sunscreen and camera! Parking and admission are FREE.

Island Rec Music on the Lawn Summer Concert Series

Island Rec is very exciting to announce the 2017 Music on the Lawn Summer Concert Series. This long-standing concert series is on Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:15, located at the San Juan Historical Museum, which is at 405 Price Street. It is a perfect time to grab a blanket or bring a chair and have a picnic. Get ready to get up and dance as well as this year we have an exceptionally dancer friendly groups of musicians lined up.

Living Well With Dementia

The San Juan Island Library will offer a panel discussion presentation for people with an early diagnosis of dementia and for caregivers and family members of people with memory issues. Living Well With Dementia will take place Tuesday, July 20 in the San Juan Island Library meeting room at 2 pm. Panelists will address basic information about dementia and provide tips for safety, retaining cognitive abilities, and living an enjoyable life.

Tour the Lighthouse

Enjoy a special evening on the Westside with a lighthouse tour and a reading by local historian, Boyd C. Pratt, from his latest book LIME: Quarrying and Limemaking in the San Juan Islands!  History buffs of all ages are welcome and encouraged to visit the historic structures at the state park and the Land Bank preserve. Lighthouse tours begin at 6:00pm. Reading and book signing with Boyd begins at 7:00pm. Park at the Lime Kiln Point State Park main lot - Discover Pass or parking fee required. San Juan Island Farmers Market

The San Juan Island Farmers Market is held every Saturday from 10am to 1pm at Brickworks, on 150 Nichols Street. Each week the Farmers Market offers a diverse selection of fresh, local food from San Juan, Waldron, Lopez, and Orcas Island. The Farmers Market also offers a mix of local, hand-crafted products such as jewelry, pottery, and artwork. Throughout the year, there are over 20 farms that vend at the year-round San Juan Island Farmers Market. Each Saturday, the market is a bubbling place to buy local groceries, eat freshly prepared food, listen to live music, shop for local crafts, and chat with local nonprofit organizations! 
 

Jazz at the Labs is back this summer

U W Labs

Aug 12 Friday Harbor Laboratories will host the 17th annual Jazz at the Labs, with dinner and amazing music! This event will include dinner served from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. in FHL’s historic dining hall. The San Juan Jazz Quintet (SJJQ) will have diners tapping their toes as they enjoy the fabulous food. Following dinner, SJJQ and Seattle’s Jazz Coalescence will perform jazz standards and originals, swing, bebop, and Latin jazz.
