The Bootlegger Bash

Friday Harbor’s premier senior living community, Village at the Harbour, is pleased to announce a fundraiser to benefit Hospice of San Juan. The Bootlegger Bash will feature a 1920’s band, signature cocktails, appetizer and food stations, interactive photo booth and silent auction! 5:30 to 8:30 Saturday July 22nd 543 Spring Street tickets $100 per person.
 

Art for Fun at San Juan Islands Museum of Art

Lots of folks have enjoyed the new "Art for Fun" experience at SJIMA!  The fun continues in July. On July 18, we will paint a field of lavender, "Lavender Sunset," and on July 26 we will paint our resident camel, "Mona."  Easy step by step instruction in a fun, relaxed atmosphere. All supplies provided. Each sessions runs from 6:00-8:00pm and costs $35.

Friday Harbor Fly-In Wings and Wheels

Come to the Friday Harbor Airport Fly-In for a celebration of Wings and Wheels, Saturday, August 26, from 10 to 3 pm! Get up close and personal with vintage and experimental aircraft, motorcycles and more. Enjoy a fly by or two. Exhibits, open hangars, demos and food will keep the family entertained for the day.

SJI Farmers Market at Brickworks

The San Juan Island Farmers Market is held every Saturday from 10am to 1pm at Brickworks, on 150 Nichols Street. Each week the Farmers Market offers a diverse selection of fresh, local food from San Juan, Waldron, Lopez, and Orcas Island. The Farmers Market also offers a mix of local, hand-crafted products such as jewelry, pottery, and artwork. Throughout the year, there are over 20 farms that vend at the year-round San Juan Island Farmers Market. Each Saturday, the market is a bubbling place to buy local groceries, eat freshly prepared food, listen to live music, shop for local crafts, and chat with local nonprofit organizations! 
 

Music on the Lawn Summer Concert Series.

Island Rec

Island Rec is very exciting to announce the 2017 Music on the Lawn Summer Concert Series. This long-standing concert series is on Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:15, located at the San Juan Historical Museum, which is at 405 Price Street. It is a perfect time to grab a blanket or bring a chair and have a picnic. Get ready to get up and dance as well as this year we have an exceptionally dancer friendly groups of musicians lined up.
 
July 19 – Blues on Tap – this award-winning blues band from Seattle knows how to work their craft, and have visited the island many times to a very appreciative audience.
 

Living Well With Dementia

The San Juan Island Library will offer a panel discussion presentation for people with an early diagnosis of dementia and for caregivers and family members of people with memory issues. Living Well With Dementia will take place Tuesday, July 20 in the San Juan Island Library meeting room at 2 pm.

She captures these creatures with awe and personality in her bronze sculptures, and unique beaded mixed media sculpture

Harbor Chocolates will now be open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. We are also honored to partner with island producers including San Juan Island Sea Salt Co. from San Juan Island, Rainshadow Confections Sweet & Savory Nuts, from San Juan Island, Kathryn Taylor Chocolates from Orcas Island, and Just Heavenly Fudge from Lopez Island.  We invite any other commercial confection maker or wine producer from the San Juan Islands to contact us to discuss having your product line in our shop.

Jazz at the Labs is back this summer

Aug 12 Friday Harbor Laboratories will host the 17th annual Jazz at the Labs, with dinner and amazing music! This event will include dinner served from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. in FHL’s historic dining hall. The San Juan Jazz Quintet (SJJQ) will have diners tapping their toes as they enjoy the fabulous food. Following dinner, SJJQ and Seattle’s Jazz Coalescence will perform jazz standards and originals, swing, bebop, and Latin jazz. All proceeds from Jazz at the Labs will benefit the Friday Harbor Laboratories K-12 Science Outreach Program in the San Juan Island Elementary, Middle,
and High Schools and the Spring Street International School. Reservations are strongly recommended. The cost is $40 per person--all inclusive for dinner and music. For reservations and more information, please call Friday Harbor Laboratories at  360-378-2165 ext. 0.
 

Pod Nods at Whale Museum

Registration open for 2017 Pod Nods at The Whale Museum: July 28, and August 25 Pod Nod overnight marine adventures return this summer to The Whale Museum! These popular “pajama party” sleepovers are geared for children ages 6 to 11 and will be held on the following Fridays: June 30, July 28, and August 25.
