This Friday, August 4th, 2017 kicks off the Second Annual San Juan Summer Arts Festival, sponsored by the San Juan County Arts Council! Come to Brickworks Plaza in downtown Friday Harbor every Friday night in August from 4-10 PM to experience the creative talents of San Juan County!  Outdoors, rain or shine! Local art, food, beer, spirits, and music!  Tarot card reading, Henna tattoos, and a hands-on "Creation Station"!  Fun for the whole family! Paint and sip, class is August 7 from 6-8pm at San Juans Islands Museum of Art. Art for Fun is a two hour, fun-filled art party set in a relaxed, interactive atmosphere. No experience necessary. Celebrate a birthday, book club night out, a date night, create team building or just enjoy a night out on your own. Make friends, sip your favorite beverage and follow step-by-step instructions from experienced artists.  Everyone paints the same picture, yet takes home his or her own unique creation. Whale Museum is pleased to announce our 2017 Summer Lecture Series! The Whale Museum’s Lecture Series is dedicated to providing our local community and visiting public with knowledge and wonder of the natural world.  The lectures are given by local or visiting experts in their field.  Join us as they share their recent research projects, stories, and experiences. The following lectures will be held at the Whale Museum at 6:30 pm on the following dates. More details about each lecture will be forthcoming in flyers:  

During August join us for guided tours of the farm with Pelindaba Lavender Farm’s owner/founder Stephen Robins. The tours are FREE and no reservation is needed. We suggest arriving at the Farm 15 mins before the tour starts. Every Saturday – 2pm
 

Come to the Friday Harbor Airport Fly-In for a celebration of Wings and Wheels, Saturday, August 26, from 10 to 3 pm! Get up close and personal with vintage and experimental aircraft, motorcycles and more. Enjoy a fly by or two. Exhibits, open hangars, demos and food will keep the family entertained for the day.

The San Juan Island Farmers Market is held every Saturday from 10am to 2:30 pm at Brickworks, on 150 Nichols Street. Each week the Farmers Market offers a diverse selection of fresh, local food from San Juan, Waldron, Lopez, and Orcas Island. The Farmers Market also offers a mix of local, hand-crafted products such as jewelry, pottery, and artwork. Throughout the year, there are over 20 farms that vend at the year-round San Juan Island Farmers Market. Each Saturday, the market is a bubbling place to buy local groceries, eat freshly prepared food, listen to live music, shop for local crafts, and chat with local nonprofit organizations! 
 

Island Rec is very exciting to announce the 2017 Music on the Lawn Summer Concert Series. This long-standing concert series is on Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:15, located at the San Juan Historical Museum, which is at 405 Price Street. It is a perfect time to grab a blanket or bring a chair and have a picnic. Get ready to get up and dance as well as this year we have an exceptionally dancer friendly groups of musicians lined up.
 
August 2 – Jbots – this local rock band is as good as they come and impresses all audiences. Pop Rock & Roll at its best.
 

Aug 12 Friday Harbor Laboratories will host the 17^th annual Jazz at the Labs, with dinner and amazing music! This event will include dinner served from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. in FHL’s historic dining hall. The San Juan Jazz Quintet (SJJQ) will have diners tapping their toes as they enjoy the fabulous food.
