Memory Cafe Event

The San Juan Island Library is offering a workshop on using iPad-based applications for people with memory issues. The workshop will take during Memory Café on Tuesday August 15 at 2:00 pm. Coloring pages, kaleidoscopes games, matching and concentration exercises can be relaxing and enriching entertainment for people with memory issues as well as their caregivers.

SJI Farmers Market at Brickworks

10am- 2:30pm, every Saturday 
The San Juan Island Farmers Market is held every Saturday from 10am to 2:30 pm at Brickworks, on 150 Nichols Street. Each week the Farmers Market offers a diverse selection of fresh, local food from San Juan, Waldron, Lopez, and Orcas Island. The Farmers Market also offers a mix of local, hand-crafted products such as jewelry, pottery, and artwork. Throughout the year, there are over 20 farms that vend at the year-round San Juan Island Farmers Market. Each Saturday, the market is a bubbling place to buy local groceries, eat freshly prepared food, listen to live music, shop for local crafts, and chat with local nonprofit organizations! 
 

Music on the Lawn

Island Rec is very exciting to announce the 2017 Music on the Lawn Summer Concert Series. This long-standing concert series is on Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:15, located at the San Juan Historical Museum, which is at 405 Price Street. It is a perfect time to grab a blanket or bring a chair and have a picnic. Get ready to get up and dance as well as this year we have an exceptionally dancer friendly groups of musicians lined up.
 
August 9 - Uncle Otto – this dynamic local acoustic band with svelte harmonies sings the hits of the 70’s. Think, CSN&Y, The Band, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Dan Hicks, mixed with some reggae all rolled into one very big play list.
 

Jazz at the Labs

Aug 12 Friday Harbor Laboratories will host the 17th annual Jazz at the Labs, with dinner and amazing music! This event will include dinner served from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. in FHL’s historic dining hall. The San Juan Jazz Quintet (SJJQ) will have diners tapping their toes as they enjoy the fabulous food. Following dinner, SJJQ and Seattle’s Jazz Coalescence will perform jazz standards and originals, swing, bebop, and Latin jazz. All proceeds from Jazz at the Labs will benefit the Friday Harbor Laboratories K-12 Science Outreach Program in the San Juan Island Elementary, Middle, and High Schools and the Spring Street International School. Reservations are strongly recommended. The cost is $40 per person--all inclusive for dinner and music.
