EDC Economic Forecast Luncheon

The Future of Water in San Juan County
Join the conversation on The Future of Water in San Juan County at the 9th Annual EDC Economic Forecast Luncheon, held at Brickworks in Friday Harbor on Wednesday, May 23rd from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. The EDC’s annual luncheon will also explore recent data on trends in the economy of the San Juan Islands. This year’s topic is The Future of Water in San Juan County, which will examine the availability of water resources in the islands, touching on scarcity risk assessments and security and their impacts on business and industry, and will also explore trends in water transportation and recreation in our area.

Pelindaba Lavender Farm Tours

Memorial Day weekend Saturday and Sunday 2pm join us for a farm tour with owner/founder Stephen Robins.  The tours are free and no reservation is needed.  We suggest arriving at the farm 15 minutes before the tour starts.

Memorial Day Parade

American Legion

The Memorial Day remembrance ceremonies will be held at 9:30 a.m., May 28 at Memorial Park at the base of Spring Street. This change from our normal time will better accommodate the ferry traffic.
The guest speaker will be Mayor Farhad Ghatan. Join to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect freedom. Look for the American Legion ladies around town to purchase a commemorative poppy to help disabled veterans.

Island Rec Music on the Lawn

Here are the bands for Music on the Lawn this coming summer and blurbs about them.
June 27 – Rocky Bay Band – Join Steve Dyer and his string band for an evening of bluegrass.  They are one of the Northwest ‘bestest’ bluegrass groups playing timeless favorites with a ‘twang’. The Rocky Bay Band is known for hard driving, high energy buegrass – Americana pick’n at its best.
