Farm to Table Dinner at Pelindaba Lavender

Join Coho Retaruant for a farm to table dinner to kick off the Pelindaba Lavender Festival and benefit SAFE San Juans on Friday, July 20th at 5:30 p.m. Enjoy an informational garden tour through the fields prior to cocktail hour and then a memorable farm dinner prepared by Coho Restaurant’s Chef Tim.
The four course dinner including a your welcome cocktail, wine with dinner, gratuity, taxes and donation to SAFE San Juans is $100 per person. Tickets may be purchased at Coho Restaurant at 360-378-6330. Please request a vegetarian meal when purchasing your ticket. Seating is limited.

San Juan Island Chamber of Commerce July Luncheon is Monday 16th

Was scheduled for the 9th, but after all the 4th to do’s , seemed like a better idea to postpone for a week. Brickworks 12 Noon for a fantastic lunch from Market Chef ($17.00) and informative short program on important topics.

Birthday Party for The Whale Museum on July 8

The Whale Museum is having a party to celebrate its 39th Birthday. The event will take place on Sunday, July 8th from noon until 3 p.m. in the parking lot of the American Legion, next door to the museum.  The ticket price of $10 per person includes a burger (regular or veggie), chips, canned soda, and a birthday cupcake plus admission to The Whale Museum. The Museum’s Birthday Wish List can be found on the website at www.whalemuseum.org/pages/birthday.

Women’s Fund Awards Grants, Honors Carolyn Haugen

The Women’s Fund members voted to award $8,385 to 6 local nonprofits during the most recent grant cycle. The San Juan Island Family Resource Center, San Juan Island Library, UW Friday Harbor Labs, WA Vocational Services, Friday Harbor Elementary School and Mt. Baker Planned Parenthood all received funds to help support projects underway this summer.

Registration open for 2018 Pod Nods at The Whale Museum

Pod Nod overnight marine adventures return this summer to The Whale Museum! These popular “pajama party” sleepovers are geared for children ages 6 to 11 and will be held on the following Fridays: July 13, August 10, and August 24. Pod Nods are led by Museum Educators with assistance from other adult professionals.  Youth participants will learn to value whales and their environment through art projects, science labs, games, the traditional flashlight tour of the Exhibit Hall, and a bedtime movie.  We promise a high adult/child ratio and a whale of a good time!

July 11 – Megs McClean – Megs and her band deliver an energetic mix of guitar driven country rock originals and energetic covers. Megs breakout single “It’s My Truck” broke the top 10 ‘Next Women of Country’ and ‘Country Pick of the Week”. She has played for Taylor Swift and Kenney Chesney audiences and headlines numerous Northwest events.
