Animal Shelter Summer Event

Take a Seat for Animals – A Wine Tasting and Painted Chair Auction will take place Friday, July 20 at Brickworks from 6:00 to 9:00.  Attendees will enjoy the wines of Maryhill Vineyards and plenty of hearty appetizers while bidding on over 30 one-of-a-kind painted chairs by local artists.  Each high bidder will be entered into a drawing to win a VIP Wine Tasting trip to Maryhill Vineyards with a two night hotel stay at The Marriott Suites in The Dalles, OR.  Tickets are $35 in advance or $40 at the door.  Tickets available at the Animal Shelter, Friday Harbor Pet Supplies and Treasure Hounds. All Proceeds benefit the Animal Protection Society of Friday Harbor.

Farm to Table Dinner at Pelindaba Lavender

Join Coho Restaurant for a farm to table dinner to kick off the Pelindaba Lavender Festival and benefit SAFE San Juans on Friday, July 20th at 5:30 p.m. Enjoy an informational garden tour through the fields prior to cocktail hour and then a memorable farm dinner prepared by Coho Restaurant’s Chef Tim.
The four course dinner including a your welcome cocktail, wine with dinner, gratuity, taxes and donation to SAFE San Juans is $100 per person. Tickets may be purchased at Coho Restaurant at 360-378-6330. Please request a vegetarian meal when purchasing your ticket. Seating is limited.

Registration open for 2018 Pod Nods at The Whale Museum

Pod Nod overnight marine adventures return this summer to The Whale Museum! These popular “pajama party” sleepovers are geared for children ages 6 to 11 and will be held on the following Fridays: July 13, August 10, and August 24. Pod Nods are led by Museum Educators with assistance from other adult professionals.  Youth participants will learn to value whales and their environment through art projects, science labs, games, the traditional flashlight tour of the Exhibit Hall, and a bedtime movie.  We promise a high adult/child ratio and a whale of a good time!

Island Rec Music on the Lawn

Here are the bands for Music on the Lawn this coming summer and blurbs about them.
 
July 11 – Megs McClean – Megs and her band deliver an energetic mix of guitar driven country rock originals and energetic covers. Megs breakout single “It’s My Truck” broke the top 10 ‘Next Women of Country’ and ‘Country Pick of the Week”. She has played for Taylor Swift and Kenney Chesney audiences and headlines numerous Northwest events.
 
July 18 – The Mix - The Mix combines the best of a live band with non-stop song mixes, playing not only the best current Top 40, but everything from 70’s funk and disco to 80’s pop & rock. The Mix hails from Seattle and is a high energy, playing at festivals, clubs and casinos all up and down the I-5 corridor.
