Friday Harbor Bike 'n Brew

San Juan Lions

This event is open to all islanders and guests!  Friday Harbor Bike-n-Brew offers a choice of three bike routes exploring the picturesque back roads of San Juan Island. We have the Mount Grant Grinder, for those who like a serious challenge in altitude gain, The Metric Century for a roughly 62-mile ride (100 kilometers- yes, 100!), and The Scenic Loop for families and cruisers.  Before the ride, eat breakfast at 9am at the starting area (SJC Fairgrounds) with the Cutthroat Pirates. After the ride, starting at 4pm, enjoy samples of island-crafted microbrews while sharing your biking stories with fellow riders at the finish line (Marie Boe Building) at the Fairgrounds. Delicious food from local vendors will also be available. Tickets are limited and are on sale now! Tickets for the bike event ($60) and brew event ($25) are sold separately. You may purchase tickets for one or both events. Last year, we had perfect weather, and all had a wonderful time.  Have a look at the photo gallery.

If you do not wish to purchase tickets now but would like to receive notices about the event, register your email address with us to receive updates. We hope you join us for this fun fall event!

All proceeds from the event support projects of the San Juan Island Lions Foundation, such as community sight and hearing programs and scholarships for local high school students.

Gospel Jazz Reprise

St. David's Episcopal Church

Nine years ago, gospel and jazz lovers attended a pair of concerts at Saint David's Episcopal Church which both sold out.  Apparently, they didn't get enough, because it is going to be done again on Saturday, Sept. 15th, and Sunday, Sept. 16th, starting at 4 pm each day.

The reason for the concerts is to raise funds to aid the Friday Harbor Food Bank and the San Juan Island Family Resource Center. Admission will be by donation, with a minimum suggested donation of $10 per person or $20 per family.

The concerts will feature singers Jill Urbach and Angel Michaels along with Rich Barker and members of the San Juan Jazz Quintet and a gospel choir directed by Jim Collado.

As the seating capacity is limited, it is advisable to arrive early. Saint David’s is located at the corner of Park & Marguerite. Saint David’s Episcopal Church, 780 Park Street / PO Box 2714 360-378-5360

1st Annual Back to School Ice Cream Social

San Juan Historical Museum

Sunday, September 16, 2018
2 pm – 5 pm
San Juan Historical Museum Grounds
405 Price St.

Bowls of vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce and toppings. Yum! Suggested donation $5.  All proceeds aid in the ongoing development of our new Museum of History and Industry.

All museum buildings will be open so have a look around. Wear you best vintage hat and enter to win fabulous prizes. Join us for a laid back, old-fashioned community ice cream social. Help us celebrate the closing days of a busy season.

Keep it simple, get your bowl of ice cream and sit around with your friends and neighbors you didn’t see all summer!  We have picnic tables and some chairs, or you could bring a blanket. Admire each other’s hats, tell stories and listen to the music and advertising of a century ago. Check out the museum buildings before or after the ice cream, and see what your community museum has been doing to preserve and display San Juan Island History.

Note: The Seahawks are playing on Monday Night Football that week.
