Starting this week, the Town of Friday Harbor is online with the Washington Business Licensing Service’s (BLS) to administer its business licensing program. 
Businesses that are currently not licensed and doing business in Friday Harbor or expecting to renew their existing licenses will need to apply through the state BLS portal at

Parking Lot A at Ferry Landing Closing

Repaving project closes Anacortes parking lot beginning April 13. The Anacortes Terminal Parking Lot A will be closed for about one month starting Saturday, April 13. Construction crews will repave the parking lot during the closure.


Friday Harbor Bike Fest

The upcoming Friday Harbor Bike Fest is the third annual bike ride sponsored by the San Juan Lions Club. In the past this event was known as the Friday Harbor Bike-n-Brew. This year’s event is being held on June 1st to coincide with the 30th annual San Juan Island Artists’ Studio Tour.

Friday Harbor Film Festival Documentary

Friday Harbor Film Festival invites you to a free screening of the award winning documentary, Living in the Future’s Past on Friday, May 3rd at 7:00 pm at Brickworks.

Economic Forecast Luncheon

EDC presents 10th Annual

San Juan County – Cross-Borders, Cross-Industries. Join the conversation on San Juan County – Cross-Borders, Cross-Industries at the 10th Annual EDC Economic Forecast Luncheon, held at Brickworks in Friday Harbor on Wednesday, May 8th from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.  Catered lunch by San Juan Bistro will be served. This year’s topic is San Juan County – Cross-Borders, Cross-Industries, which will examine international trade, innovation, and security as they relate to the San Juan County economy.


Beyond the War on Invasive Species

Join us May 9 for a thoughtful discussion of how we can approach gardening, farming, forestry, and land management with a more nuanced understanding of invasive species. How can we mimic nature in managing the overabundance of a particular species? Part of the San Juan Island Grange Lecture Series; 7 pm at Grange Hall; 6 pm potluck.  


Open House at Friday Harbor Laboratories

May 11, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. This is an annual event open to the community, especially families. SCUBA demonstrations, open research laboratories, tours of the 58' Research Vessel Centennial, and scientific lectures, as well as activities for children. Marimba band music, popcorn and hot dogs.

Have you written a book? Do you like to read works by local authors? There’s a new group in town you might want to get to know. The Authors of the San Juan Islands is a community of writers living in and around the Salish Sea. Their mission is to raise awareness of our local author community and to educate new writers in the pursuit of better craft and business practices.
