NOAA Emergency Response Division Lecture

Prior to the Exxon Valdez oil spill in 1989, many marine mammal scientists believed that oil spills would have minimal effect on cetaceans like dolphins and whales.  It was thought that animals in the vicinity of a spill would simply avoid it; we now know that this is untrue, and exposure to oil in the two largest marine spills in U.S history resulted in profound and apparently long-term effects to exposed cetaceans.

A note from Vic's Brian and Theresa

"We wanted to pass along as members that Vic’s will be at the fair this year...under an alias.

To avoid any redundancy in offerings by vendors we have spent the last two years working diligently on an entirely new concept specifically for the fair.

The new concept is called Uppities (pronounces You-Pit-ease) and derives from The Finnish world for Deep Fried (Uppopaistettu) and the definition of Uppity - as in assuming a position beyond ones station. As in “this upscale deep Fried Mac n cheese ball is brought to you by Vics”

Chef Aaron Rock has created a from scratch recipe that will be offered plain, with weenies, or in Arancini form with White Fish.

For dessert we have engineered a first:

Chicken ice cream - And we will be serving it as a Chicken and Waffle Sundae.

Our goal was to provide a fun, delicious, unique and new food offering for locals. We too look forward to the fair and indulging in the once a year dining opportunity’s.

This year promises to be a memorable one with many local food vendors stepping back into the fair - and we look forward to spending a few days under our cardboard crown serving up. Great meals in the sun. Find us at the fair!"
