Lorton Valley Star Celebrates 10 year Anniversary (06/17/09)
Lorton Valley Star Newspaper has been serving the greater Lorton Community for 10 years as the only paper which coverage area centers on rural Lorton including our fun center Historic Occoquan and our historic link Gunston Hall on Mason Neck.
Lorton Valley Star has grown gradually with the community over that time providing monthly print issues and a companion web site. We hope to continue service as Lorton develops. It was first published as a single sheet forecasting the Lorton 4th of July parade.
Our favorite accolade came from the Mason Neck Lion Club recognizing our service which was not applied for or expected.

Lorton’s one and only home town newspaper, Lorton Valley Star is the FREE monthly tabloid picked up from the Fairfax / Franconia Parkway to the Prince William Parkway.
The goal of Lorton Valley Star has always been to keep trade in our local, predominately rural but, growing community while producing a family friendly publication. This is reflected in our advertising & editorial policies as well as our growth in step with the community.
Our stories are not found in the Metropolitan area papers. When selecting news for the print issue, we ask the question that our readers would ask: “What’s in it for me.” The web site www.LortonValleyStar.com displays more current news on the home page news ticker, and has links to advertisers own web sites.
We protect the moral climate. We support protecting the environment. We help save animals. We connect people. We help citizens have positive participation in our community. We show residents how to recreate locally saving thousands of gallons of fuel. We support the fine and performing arts. We support the local merchants. We’ve been doing these things for 10 years.
