Social Media Tips for Businesses

Randi Kaufman

Check out where your competitors are. Is there something you can do that will set yourself apart? What platforms are used by your target audience? Study Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, YouTube, and Google+ to determine what networks would be the most beneficial for your business. Also to avoid a large learning curve, consider platforms that you are already engaged in and are familiar with. Doing so will allow more productivity sooner rather than later.

Decide how much time you are willing and able to devote to your social media presence. Determine if you will be the one managing it or will it be assigned to an employee or outsourced to a social media management specialist. Whatever platform you decide, if you are going to do it, do it well or don’t bother with it at all. A poor social media presence can reflect negatively on your brand as well as hurt your search engine rankings.

Work for quality no quantity. Delete any accounts that you have created but have decided not to utilize. An unused account will deter potential clients and customers from your business. Create a social media strategic plan. A plan will help you create clear objectives with measurable results to accomplish your social media goals for 2014.
