Executive Director Message

Clark H. Caras

Seriously though, each day I come to work in this position of trust my mind, heart and soul wonder just what is going to happen to make me smile and my heart swell at the wonderful people who first, make up the Spanish Fork Salem Chamber of Commerce and the citizens and other business owners and their employees who present these communities as places you want to be. And yes, in 2015 to say that a smile, either coming from someone else or yourself is a miracle is sad but true. Yet, in this place that in so many ways has stood still and kept its civility, while growing, expanding, building, zoning, and annexing the smile and wanting to share it and typically the "hello" coming with it remains.

Everyone is born with a unique ability, which in the long run can make them a strategic competitor. The civility, smiles and hellos of the people who are members of the Spanish Fork Salem Chamber of Commerce are just such strategic competitors. Maybe it's because we have a great number of dentists we get the smiles? But I doubt it, not as I watch people like Heather Hone pull up to the back of Walmart at 8 a.m. to load approximately 35 bikes and tricycles for an Easter Egg Hunt days away and know that trailer could and should be put to use in the family business. But she does it with a smile and chuckle letting you know all is well, and it's being done because of a love of the community, it's children, parents, and the Chamber she has added her unique abilities to as a strength that builds both community and Chamber alike.

So keep on smiling Spanish Fork, Salem and our friends and members in Springville and Payson. That unique ability in a world of chaos and change can be the selling point making your business the strategic competitor; or it might be just the act of kindness a stranger in need uses to warm their heart and let them know they will be back and open that door as customer or friend.
