Over the past five years, Jennifer has earned the Venturing Outdoor, Sports and Community and Religious Life Bronze Awards; the Venturing Ranger, Gold and Silver Awards and is a recipient of the Council/Regional/National level Venturing Leadership Awards (VLA). Over the next few months, Jennifer plans to complete some final requirements for the Venturing Quest and Trust Awards. Jennifer has enjoyed participating in and teaching multiple Venturing Leadership Skills Courses (VLSC), Kodiak, and Kodiak X courses. In addition to her Venturing involvement, Jennifer remained actively involved in her LDS Ward’s Young Women’s program where she earned the Young Womanhood Medallion. She currently holds a calling in her college Ward Relief Society.
Jennifer has just completed her Freshman year at Brigham Young University where she plans to pursue a Degree in Nursing. She is a 2009 graduate of Spanish Fork High School where she received high academic honors and served as a co-captain of the girls cross country and track teams. Jennifer is an All-State Academic athlete in both sports. She was also involved in and served in leadership positions in the National Honors Society, Key Club, and Youth City Council. Jennifer has played the violin for 13 years and loves music. In her free time, Jennifer enjoys reading, hiking, running, rock climbing, spending time with family, writing letters, and sewing.
Jen states, "I love Venturing because it has given me the opportunity to learn and develop leadership skills without realizing it. I was just having fun." Her personal vision statement is: “The only difference between ordinary and extraordinary is a little ‘extra’”. Jennifer always tries to do a little extra at anything she does.
Over the next year, Jennifer will have many opportunities to travel across the Nation as a spokesperson for Venturing in addition to setting on the National BSA Board of Directors. Jennifer is the daughter of Gordon and Janice Lowe of Spanish Fork, Utah. She has two brothers who are also registered Venturers and have each earned the rank of Eagle Scout.
Venturing is a youth development program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women who are 13 (and have completed the eighth grade) through 20 years of age.
Venturing's purpose is to provide positive experiences to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults. Venturing methods designed to meet the needs of today’s youth include: Adult Association, Leadership, Recognition, Ideals, Group Activities, High Adventure, and Teaching Others.
Venturing is based on a unique and dynamic relationship between youth, adult leaders, and organizations in their communities. The result is a program of exciting and meaningful activities that helps youth pursue their special interests, grow, develop leadership skills, and become good citizens.

The Spanish Fork/Salem Area Chamber of Commerce is the Charter Organization for Venture Crew 1532 and we are very proud of these young people.  We are especially proud of Jennifer and her achievements. Congratulations Jen!
