with three dual credit classes starting in the fall of 2015 focusing on Manufacturing, Construction and Automotive skills.
  • During a Manufacturing Week event, five area manufacturers hosted tours of 135 students from four local high schools.  The number of schools and manufacturers participating this year is growing.
  • 119 students from six high schools attended a Student/Business Luncheon where they engaged with area businesses, collected job applications and learned about career opportunities.
  • Four area schools opened their doors to local manufacturers to set up alongside universities and military to have dialogue with students about future career options.
  • Two local manufacturers coordinated with high schools to hire senior students to work and be mentored in their plants.  This initiative led to several high school students being hired over summer break.
  • NJLB created a website, Facebook page and collaborated with Lake Land College to create video testimonials of individuals talking about their successful careers in manufacturing.
  • Numerous connections were built between businesses and educators to increase awareness, share ideas and work together to build a better workforce.
  • Efforts are ongoing as new ideas are continually being explored.
