Best Friends Humane Society in Worth County is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to caring for the unwanted and abandoned animals in our community.
After a complete examination, vaccinations and quarantine period, animals are avaiable for adoption.
Membership is encouraged and volunteers are gratefully welcomed.
Donations are always welcome. The list of most used items includes:
Dog & puppy food, cat & kitten food and kitty litter
Bleach, Dawn Liquid, paper towels, laundry detergent and towels
Dog crates - all sizes
New, or slightly used collars & leashes
BFHS is also a recycling collection point. Donation of items for recycling may be made during regular business hours, or bagged items may be left at the gate when the shelter is closed.
Mission Statement
Mission StatementThe mission of the Best Friends Humane Society in Worth County is to raise public awareness of animal issues, promoting responsible pet ownership through education; promotion of pet spay and neuter programs to reduce the overpopulation of companion animals which leads to neglect, abuse and cruelty; and to adhere to an adoption program placing pets in loving, qualified homes; and to receive and manage money and property for these purposes.
In addition, the Best Friends Humane Society seeks to incorporate the Best Practices, wherever possible, as noted in the “Guidelines for Standards of Animal Care in Animal Shelters” by the Association of Shelter Veterinarians, 2010
