Isakson to attend Meet and Greet at Sylvester Chamber of Commerce

WASHINGTON –U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson, R-GA, will attend a Meet and Greet with residents and elected officials in Sylvester, Georgia on Thursday, April 4th at the Sylvester-Worth County Chamber of Commerce. Isakson will give a brief update from Washington and take questions from the audience. Isakson hopes those attending will come ready to share their thoughts and concerns on the critical issues facing our State and Nation.  The public and the media are invited to attend.
Thursday, April 4th 2013, 2:00pm-3:00pm

Isakson, a businessman and member of the Senate Finance Committee and the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee has held listening sessions and attended meet and greets across Georgia in order to spend time with and learn from constituents.  Drawing from these meetings, as well has his own experience, he has offered solutions to restore the nation’s economy and job market.

Please contact Jody Redding, staff member for Senator Isakson, at 229-322-2274 or jody_redding@isakson.senate.gov with questions or to RSVP.

Nasty stomach virus blasting through Southwest Georgia, and there’s no vaccine

A virus that causes diarrhea, throwing up, nausea and stomach cramps is sickening people across Southwest Georgia, and Public Health officials are urging residents to take special precautions to prevent the spread of the highly contagious disease.

“We are getting reports from schools, child care centers, restaurants and other facilities of clusters of norovirus-like illness, and we’ve had positive norovirus test results back from locations in more than one community,” said Southwest Health District Epidemiologist Jacqueline Jenkins. “At this point we can say the infection is pretty much everywhere in our District.”

New Location at 502 W Franklin Street!

In response to tremendous local support, the Sylvester Computer Guy has moved to a new, larger location which opened April 1st! Located at 502 W Franklin Street (Hwy 82) next to A Bag to Go, the new store features a dedicated parking lot, roomy sales floor, larger service counter, and a bigger, lockable workshop. In addition to repair services for computers and gadgets, the new store will better accommodate other offerings such as ink/toner supplies, fax/copy center, website design, and more!

As a fundraiser for the Relay for Life of Worth County, ConAgra Foods, Inc./Peter Pan Peanut Butter has compiled a cookbook "Cooking to Make a Difference" which will go on sale around the middle of April.  Cookbooks are $10 each and all proceeds go to the American Cancer Society. The printing costs of the cookbook were sponsored by ConAgra Foods/Peter Pan.

A date will be posted when the cookbooks arrive on the ConAgra Foods Team page of the American Cancer Society/Worth County Relay for Life website.  You may purchase your cookbook at the Sylvester-Worth Chamber of Commerce, Snipes Piggly Wiggly and Ed's Truck Stop.

Thank you for your support in the fight for a cure.

As part of a statewide celebration of Georgia's cities, Sylvester will host a series of events including a car show,  tree plantings and activities with Worth County High School students.

The 10th Annual Great Sylvester Clean-up on Saturday, April 27 concludes the celebration.  Join us that Saturday for two hours to beautify our city. In our most recent litter survey, citizens agreed litter costs taxpayers money and hurts the environment. Join us!

After the Clean-Up stay downtown for a Car and Bike Show. (See the flyer this page.)
