Lea Marquez Peterson named Chairwoman of the Southern Arizona Chamber Alliance

The Southern Arizona Chamber Alliance (SACCA) has recently been rekindled due to the leadership of the GLBT Chamber. This Alliance was formed years ago with the intent of lobbying the state legislature on Southern Arizona business issues. During the economic downturn, the group stopped meeting as various chambers were challenged with the financial commitment to the group.

Eight chambers have come back together to reform the Alliance. The Tucson Hispanic Chamber, Southern Arizona Black Chamber, GLBT Chamber, Metro Chamber, Vail Chamber, Marana Chamber, Northern Pima Chamber and the Green Chamber have partnered together to re-form SACCA. The intent has been refocused on local issues with an emphasis on Pima County due to the various jurisdictions many of the chambers represent. Currently, SACCA is meeting to finalize its legislative principles and its course of action. The group plans to increase the visibility and involvement of its members at Pima County Board of Supervisors meetings.

Lea Marquez Peterson, the President/CEO of the Tucson Hispanic Chamber has been named the Chairwoman for the 2010-2011 year. Each chamber will rotate as the Chair of the organization. The organization has recently launched its website at www.southernarizonachambers.com.
