Chilly Completion of Chamber Turkey Days

Chamber Board Member Si Hutt, from Ashley Regional Medical Center helped during the event and remarked that the unfavorable weather conditions were a major factor in the crowds being smaller than in times past. There were almost 200 turkey certificates left after the event on Saturday and plans were quickly made to get those turkeys distributed to the community. Some tukeys were donated to the Ashley Valley Food Pantry, and others to local church groups for distribution. Some of the Turkeys that were paid for and sponsored by our Chamber Platinum sponsors (Ashley Regional Medical Center (ARMC), Strata Networks, City of Naples, Uintah County and Vernal City) were given back to those sponsors for distribution to their employees, or however they could to benefit the community. Si Hutt mentioned that they would use ARMC's turkey certificates to hand out to certain patients using hospital services that could use a little extra Christmas Cheer this year.

The remaining turkey certificates were given to the newspaper and radio stations to distribute to the public through fun contests and give aways. Tabitha Dean from the Vernal Express mentioned that they had some Turkey Trivia contests and other ideas that they could use to distribute their turkeys, so search the newspaper for more details. Tune into your favorite local radio station as well to learn the details of how you may be able to win a turkey, compliments of one of our local businesses and the Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce.

"Overall, I am pleased with the event from two perspectives, first-traffic was generated to our local merchants as over 1800 tickets were collected, and second-those that really wanted the turkeys and made the effort to come to the event were able to receive a turkey," states Kitzmiller. "Next year we will make some adjustments that will allow for more participation and provide greater benefit for both our local businesses and the community." The Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce Board and Staff would like to thank all of the businesses that helped sponsor this event.
