The San Francisco Creamery Company has its origins from the 1930's and 1940's when most ice cream fountains were found in neighborhood dime stores and pharmacies. Even before the popularity of post war 50's diners, a certain J.B. Cooper converted an old Barbary saloon into a soda fountain and malt shop located at what is now the Fillmore district of San Francisco. Keeping the look of Victorian style decor, rich in wood finishes and accents, he went to making homemade ice cream, chocolates, and other confections. We make all of our ice cream, hot fudge, chocolate syrup, caramel and butterscotch, the olde fashioned way, right here on the premises. We bake all of our own pies and brownies and we use only the finest Guittard chocolates and cocoa in all of our toppings and ice creams. We Hope you will be pleased. ALL FUR LOVE is an organization that specializes in the rescue of all sorts of dogs, large and small, young and old. ALL FUR LOVE was founded in San Francisco, CA. We are an 100% volunteer-based, small group of Bay Area citizens who work to place abandoned and rescued dogs in new homes. The dogs are groomed and bathed. Then they are vaccinated, neutered or spayed, heartworm tested and assessed for temperament. When necessary, which is often the case, they also have their teeth cleaned and their ears flushed. They usually require medical treatment before being placed for adoption. If there is a place in your heart and home for one of these deserving cuties, please contact us. Our adoption fee is $400.00 for a dog 1 year or younger, $350.00 for a dog 2 to 5 years and $300.00 for a dog 6 years or older. We have rescued many beautiful, loving dogs in this area and there are many more in the local shelters that need our help. Historic House Museum and research center for Walnut Creek history. In the mid-1960s, local historian Isabelle Spencer Brubaker proposed to the Walnut Creek Women's Club the idea of forming a local historical society. The first meeting of the Walnut Creek Historical Society was held Nov. 6, 1967, and a Charter Night banquet was held Feb. 14, 1968. In November 1970, the Gospel Foundation of California gave to the City of Walnut Creek the remaining one and one-half acres of the former Hiram Penniman ranch, including the 1903 family house, at 2660 Ygnacio Valley Road. Mary Liddecoat, director of the Gospel Foundation, suggested the house be used as a historical museum. The Walnut Creek Historical Society worked with the City to officially open the Shadelands Ranch Historical Museum on November 18, 1972.
Today, the Society is a proactive organization that works with the local community and government to carry out its mission to preserve and interpret local history. Building community connections and pride, the Society welcomes your support and participation. Members of the Walnut Creek Historical Society receive a quarterly newsletter, announcements of special events, and a discount on items sold at the museum. To become a member, call (925) 935-7871. |
