About Us
The Gardens at Heather Farm is a living museum, an outdoor classroom, a public garden and a beautiful place for everyone to enjoy. Visitors can enjoy a broad range of plants situated in more than twenty demonstration gardens and learning sites. The gardens demonstrate low-maintenance, water conserving and environmentally friendly pest management methods, as well as stunning landscape techniques and designs.
Our site consists of 6-acres, all with handicapped accessible pathways.
We offer an ever-changing array of classes for adults covering a broad spectrum of interests — gardening & horticulture topics, garden design, flower arranging, & garden-related arts & crafts.
The Natural Science Classroom offers a wide variety of science and environmental education programs for students of all ages and abilities. Each program includes an interactive presentation, hands-on activities and teacher resource materials.
The grounds and buildings at The Gardens at Heather Farm are available to rent for all your special event needs. Our Garden areas are also available for outside functions – creating a perfect opportunity for inside-outside entertaining. We can tailor a rental package to meet the needs of your event.
Camellia Room:
Receptions, parties and meetings can be held in the Camellia Room, with a capacity of 150 guests. Light and airy, it has a high beamed ceiling and floor-to-ceiling windows that afford sweeping views of Mt. Diablo and the gardens. A spacious wraparound deck gives guests access to the outdoors. This room features a catering kitchen and ice machine. Tables and chairs are included in your rental.
Gazebo & Rose Garden:
The stunning Cowden Rose Garden features thousands of roses, continuously blooming from May through October. Right next to the Rose Garden, the rose-covered Gazebo with its imported slate-tile roof is specifically designed to create a dramatic backdrop for wedding ceremonies and other important events. White wooden chairs can be set up on the concrete apron and small lawn in front of the Gazebo.
The Gardens at Heather Farm is proud to have been awarded the Best of the East Bay award from Diablo Magazine for Best Garden in 2005.
