One of the best parts of this remarkable job is the chance to be inspired by remarkable people. I got one of those opportunities again today. For the third straight year, I was proud to be asked to emcee the East Bay Women's Conference at the Marriott Hotel in San Ramon.
600 women (and about a half-dozen men!) turned out for a remarkable day of networking, education, and .... inspiration.

The Walnut Creek Library will be transformed into a sophisticated jazz-era supper club on Saturday, March 14, when the Walnut Creek Library Foundation presents its 6th annual Authors Gala. Guests will mingle with sixteen notable Bay Area authors, enjoy fine food and drink, and bid on items not found anywhere else in what has become one of the premier literary and social events of the year, attracting more than 200 of Walnut Creek’s most prominent citizens and library supporters. The UXL Awards were established six years ago to celebrate very special Chamber members who have made a contribution to our Community individually and through their businesses.
This year’s awards will recognize a Business of the Year or Business Person of the Year and Citizen of the Year. These exceptional individuals will be recognized with the Chamber UXL Award at the annual Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau Installation lunch on Thursday, April 16 at Scott’s Seafood Grill & Bar.

EBWC Celebrated 10-Year Anniversary Milestone
How do you expect to feel when you are surrounded by nearly 600 dynamic professional women, community leaders, and entrepreneurs? Together, Stronger! The theme that marked the tenth anniversary celebration of the East Bay Women’s Conference that took place on March 2 at the San Ramon Marriott.
Nearly a year in the making by the Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau’s East Bay Women’s Conference committee, the group “hit it out of the ballpark” with their tenth consecutive sold out event. The energy throughout the day was both palpable and inspiring. ABC7 News anchor Dan Ashley reprised his role as event emcee, and first EBWC keynote speaker Linda Ellerbe, made a special video appearance.
Attendees lunched alongside phenomenal speakers such as Oscar winner and Chair to the California Commission on the Status of Women Geena Davis, GoldieBlox founder Debbie Sterling, and avid social entrepreneur Sejal Hathi. They packed inspirational and educational breakout sessions conducted by powerhouses in the fields of finance, negotiations, work/life balance, communications, sexual health, and Olympian thinking… presented by two-time Olympian Marilyn King. In between, the exhibit hall offered plenty of shopping and information on products, services, and local non-profit organizations. The afternoon concluded with a “Celebrate Your Style” reception, champagne toast, and the opportunity to speak with hundreds of women with their own stories.
