The annual MEGA Business Mixer (Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, Lafayette, Concord, Martinez, Orinda, Moraga, and Hispanic) will take place on Thursday, August 6, from 5:00—7:00pm at the Pleasant Hill Community Center in Pleasant Hill. Hosted by the Pleasant Hill Chamber of Commerce, the MEGA Mixer typically draws 200 attendees from the eight Chambers making this a great opportunity to expand networking circles and learn what’s happening in our neighboring cities. As in past years, attendees will enjoy delicious appetizers and sweet treats provided by member restaurants, caterers, and bakeshops from each Chamber. Bring a raffle prize and we will announce your business.

Opportunity to meet with policymakers and civic leaders

The Civic Affairs Committee meets monthly on current affairs that impact the city and state, and weigh-in with their recommendations on important issues with the Chamber Board of Directors. The Civic Affairs Committee is one of many opportunities the Chamber provides its members each year to meet with policymakers and engage civic leaders in meaningful dialog surrounding the issues most important to business.

Off the Grid

Off the Grid will make its debut appearance in Walnut Creek starting Tuesday, July 14. After more than a year of rumors and negotiations, the popular Bay Area food truck organizer has inked a deal to appear weekly on Tuesday evenings, 5–9 p.m., in the former McDonald’s parking lot off N. California and Mt. Diablo boulevards. Food offerings will be provided by a rotating lineup of nine food trucks, including Drewski’s Hot Rod Kitchen, Gyro Stop Kebab G, ADOruBOwl, and IzzyA’s Frozen Custard to kick things off; the final lineup will be available on Off the Grid’s website. The venue will also host live music from 6–8 p.m. and serve as an outdoor beer and wine garden. Off the Grid: Walnut Creek Downtown: 1380 N. California Blvd. Starting Tuesday, July 14. Time: 5–9:00 p.m. with music 6–8:00 p.m.

$2500 Energy Efficiency Rebate
for Small and Medium Businesses

The City of Walnut Creek has launched a $2500 “Walnut Creek Energy Champion” rebate available on a first-come, first-served basis that can be added to the Business Energy Services Team (BEST) Program’s rebate, available through Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E). Together, the City’s rebate and PG&E’s rebate may cover about 75 percent or more of project costs. The BEST Program offers free site assessments, rebates for upgrading refrigeration and lighting, and installation by approved contractors for small and medium businesses. Walnut Creek business and property owners that participate in the BEST Program are then eligible to receive the City’s rebate. Some businesses and facilities types do not qualify.
