Filling the Bill

Recently, CalChamber tallied and published their findings on how often our legislators voted in accord with the California Chamber of Commerce position on bills relating to business. Senator Steve Glazer (D) 7th District, and Assemblywoman Catherine Baker (R) 16th District, both voted 80% or more with CalChamber. The CalChamber publishes this report in response to numerous requests by member firms and local chambers of commerce that would like a gauge by which to measure the performance of their legislators. Click here to veiw the complete list.

#WhatWouldYouDo?

Business volunteers needed for special morning

#WhatWouldYouDo?  The Chamber’s Education Committee will pose this question to a group of middle school students on Wednesday, December 9 from 9:00am to noon. The program, formally known as Ethics Day, is an extremely popular and rewarding experience for participating students and volunteers.

This unique experience offers direct interaction between students, business leaders, educators, and government officials as they ask each other “What Would You Do?” to a series of timely ethical scenarios.  Participants will discuss current issues to consider how to form ethical values, resolve ethical conflicts, and to identify potential long-term effects of various decisions.  It also promotes actively listening to the perspectives of others.

#What Would You Do? is a great volunteer opportunity. To learn more about the program and how you can participate, please contact Chamber Senior Vice President, Marcie Hochhauser at mhoch@walnut-creek.com or (925) 934-2007.
