Washington County traffic impacted for funeral proceedings

TENNILLE - The funeral services of Washington County Sheriff Thomas H. Smith will close a portion of State Route (SR) 68 from Matthews Road to the SR 15 intersection to thru-traffic starting at 2 p.m. today until tomorrow afternoon.

SR 15 will still be open to traffic through Tennille. Delays will occur due to the expected visitors.

Today from roughly 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., traffic flow on SR 68 around the Matthews Road intersection will be congested due to proximity of the visitation to the state highway.

Thursday the funeral service begins at 11 a.m. at Tennille United Methodist Church with the burial in Zeta Cemetery. Heavy traffic and congestion is expected in the area of Tennille United Methodist Church at this time.
