The Vadnais Heights Rotary Club is hosting Sara Bazey,
Mrs. Minnesota International 2012, on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 starting at noon (check-in 11:45).  Mrs. Bazey is presenting a program on Survivor Offering Assistance in Recovery (SOAR). Mrs. Bazey survived a helicopter crash while flying over a construction site and was severely burned. She has turned her painful experience as a burn survivor into an opportunity as a trained SOAR volunteer at Regions Hospital, as well as an Officer of the National Board of Trustees for the Phoenix Society for burn survivors. Her goal is to connect the burn community around the world while sharing a message of acceptance,  that our inner beauty is far more important than our outer appearance.  The meeting is at Jimmy’s Conference and Catering, 3565 Labore Rd., Vadnais Heights, MN and includes an Italian Buffet of Caesar Salad, Penne Pasta with meat sauce, Penne Pasta with Alfredo sauce, sautéed vegetables, garlic breadsticks, and champagne cake with raspberry sauce.  The cost for the lunch and program is $15 a person.  Mrs. Bazey is the President & CEO of a national award winning construction materials company. For the past 25 years this company has worked with some of the most accomplished contractors in the world building our nation’s infrastructure. She is devoted to the construction industry and has served as President for the State Concrete Paving Association, Executive Committee member for the American Concrete Pavement Association, founding member and President of the Association for Women in Construction, and active member of the Associated General Contractors. Mrs. Bazey has been involved in community banking as a Director and Chairperson of the Board for fourteen years. Sarah holds a BA in Psychology from Augsburg College, and is a graduate of Harvard Business School.
 In her personal life, Sarah is a professional figure skater, loves downhill skiing, mountain hiking and yoga. She judges pageants for the Miss USA and Miss America systems, and in March of 2012 was crowned Mrs. Minnesota International. She went on to Chicago in July and competed with women from around the world and was crowned Mrs. International 2012. Sarah and her husband Joseph reside in the Mill City District of Minneapolis, MN, and they have a Maltese named Tonka.
