Community Events

During our crime prevention meeting last spring, we talked with a Detective about local business crime trends and some of the concerns businesses may have over the summer months.  It seemed like summer snuck right past us, and now it’s time to get together for another meeting!  In our last session there was expressed interest for the police department to host an assembly on “Workplace Violence,” and we hope to deliver more on this topic.
As a result the White Bear Lake Police Department is pleased to announce that we will be hosting another Business Crime Prevention meeting on Thursday, November 7th, 2013, in the Public Safety Training Room (3rd Street Entrance) at the White Bear Lake Police Department.  The meeting will begin at 10:00 AM.   All local business representatives are invited and there is no cost to attend.  The topic for this meeting will be Workplace Violence.
Police agencies are often asked what can be done to prevent workplace violence, or how to respond should it occur.  At this meeting we will talk about the importance of workplace violence policy and systems, recommendations on how employers should respond to threats of violence, and police resources available to assist our business community.  Additionally we will have a guest speaker who will talk about the dynamics of critical incidents and acts of mass violence.
We appreciate your continued involvement with the police department and members of our community, and we look forward to hopefully seeing you on November 7th!

Start At The End!  Death:  A Record Rich Event
Saturday, November 16, 11am
Ramsey County Library-White Bear Lake, 4698 Clark Avenue, White Bear Lake, 55110
Join Certified Genealogist Tom Rice for this program highlighting what records can tell us about families.  Using death as an example, the point will be made that genealogists should look for every record around each event in their ancestors’ lives. As with every life event the questions are: what are the records about this event, what is in them, where to find them, how to use them and what other records do they point to. Several typical death records will be used as examples of how records should be analyzed as to the quality of evidence presented and the clues they give.
FREE event but donations are welcome.  Presented by the White Bear Lake Area Historical Society.  651-407-5327
