Lindsay Whalen is a Minnesota Hometown Hero. She grew up in Hutchinson, MN, went on to a college career with the Minnesota Gophers Women's Basketball Team and followed that with 15 years in the WNBA. Now she is back at the University of Minnesota as the Women's Basketball Coach where she has inspired her team to a 12-1 start in her first season. 

As a player, Lindsay Whalen set countless records at the college and professional levels. At the U of M, she finished her career as Minnesota's all-time leading point scorer, led them to their first Final Four appearance and is the only four-time team MVP in the school's history. 

She went on to become the all-time winningest player in WNBA history, and helped build up the league. She led the Minnesota Lynx to 4 WNBA Championships, holds four gold medals - one each from the 2012 and 2016 Olympics and one each from the 2010 and 2014 world championships.
