Attention Chamber Members

Starting daily at 7 a.m., both directions of Hwy 61 between White Bear Avenue and just north of Hwy 96 will be reduced to one lane. Work on the road started in the south end of the project zone and crews expect to be working in the downtown area by the end of next week, weather permitting.

In addition to road resurfacing, the project will include installing lighting, updating pedestrian crossings to meet accessibility standards, constructing a pedestrian trail, upgrading traffic and railway signals, replacing storm drains and other infrastructure. Construction is expected to be complete by fall 2014.

MnDOT and the city of White Bear Lake worked together on this project to gain the most value possible for the public. The $5.3 million resurfacing and improvement project will provide a smoother, safer, long-lasting roadway with better pedestrian accessibility and improved drainage capabilities. This work helps ensure MnDOT’s transportation system will continue to serve the state for many years.
