Anthony Wayne Arts Commission

Art and About 2017: Jim White Memorial Paint Out, the annual Anthony Wayne Area Arts Commission event is being renamed this year to honor local artist, Jim White. Jim, a very talented artist who always painted in this event, passed away on February 10, 2017. A commercial artist by trade, Jim enjoyed creating landscapes and portraits in both oil paint and charcoal. He won many awards for his work over the years including first place and People’s Choice awards at past Art & About events. During the paint out he often encouraged on-looking children to take his brush and add some color to his painting. Many of his paintings sport children’s signatures next to his own.
This is the fifth annual event and will be held in Downtown Waterville on June 15, 16 and 17.  Art and About is a three day event that invites talented, local artists to set up and paint outside throughout the city on June 15 and 16.  Then on Saturday, June 17, Celebration of the Arts will be held from 1:00 pm to 5:00 p.m. on N.
