AMERICAN PICKERS To Film In Ohio!

Filming Will Begin in October

Ohio is excited to welcome Mike Wolfe, Frank Fritz and Antique Archeology to the area. The team will film episodes of their hit series AMERICAN PICKERS throughout Ohio. Filming is scheduled for October.

AMERICAN PICKERS is a documentary series that explores the fascinating world of antique ‘picking’ on History. This hit show follows two of the most skilled pickers in the business, Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz, as they embark on an epic road trip across the U.S. in search of America’s most valuable antiques from motorcycles, classic cars and bicycles to one-of-a-kind vintage memorabilia. Mike and Frank are on a mission to recycle America, restore forgotten relics to their former glory, and learn a thing or two about American history along the way.

AMERICAN PICKERS is looking for leads and would love to explore what you may have. They are on the hunt for interesting characters with interesting and unique items.  Some of what they look for: vintage bicycles, toys, unusual radios, movie memorabilia, advertising, military items, folk art, vintage musical equipment, vintage automotive items, early firefighting equipment, vintage clothing, pre-50’s western gear.

AMERICAN PICKERS is produced by Cineflix Productions for History. New episodes air Wednesdays at 9pm ET on History.

If you have a large collection or want to refer someone to Mike and Frank, email: your name, number, address and description of the collection and photos to: americanpickers@cineflix.com 855-old-rust.

Ohio Sales Tax Holiday Information!

August 7 through August 9

The date is 12:01 AM Friday August 7 through 11:59 PM Sunday August 9. It only applies to specific items; here are a few particulars to keep in mind.
  • The event allows certain purchases of clothing, school supplies, and school instructional materials to be purchased without paying Ohio sales tax. If the items are purchased over the internet where no tax is charged those items are exempt from Ohio use tax.
  • There is a $75 limit for clothing and $20 limit for school supplies and instructional materials. However, the limit is PER ITEM. That means if each item of clothing is $75 or under, the whole purchase is exempt. Any items over $75 are not exempt.
  • School supplies include only certain items binders; book bags; calculators; cellophane tape; blackboard chalk; compasses; composition books; crayons; erasers; folders (expandable, pocket, plastic, and manila); glue, paste, and paste sticks; highlighters; index cards; index card boxes; legal pads; lunch boxes; markers; notebooks; paper; loose leaf ruled notebook paper, copy paper, graph paper, tracing paper, manila paper, colored paper, poster board, and construction paper; pencil boxes and other school supply boxes; pencil sharpeners; pencils; pens; protractors; rulers; scissors; and writing tablets.
  • Sports uniforms qualify – but sporting equipment (gloves, balls, rackets, clubs) do not
  • If the item totals $75 or under than associated shipping is also exempt
  • Vendors MUST comply with the Holiday – so all retail stores should be applying the program.

An example –
A mother takes her two daughters to a store for back to school shopping –
  • Daughter one picks out 3 tops for $35 each and a jacket on sale for $60. The entire $165 purchase is exempt.
  • Daughter 2 picks out two $50 pairs of jeans and an $80 denim jacket. The $100 for jeans is exempt. The $80 jacket is taxed in its entirety.
  • The store has the above denim jacket on sale for $69 or the mother applies rewards points to discount the purchase to $69 – the purchase of the jacket becomes exempt as discounts can be applied to reduce the price below $75.
  • Daughter 1 picks out one $80 pair of jeans and gets the second pair free or for $1.99. The purchase is taxed as buy one get one free specials cannot be averaged.
  • They stop on the way out at another store to pick up a softball glove and cleats – taxed in its entirety as sporting equipment does not qualify.
