Chamber Chatter With Diversified Insurance

Bob Keogh

Why the Grinch did not get put away with the Christmas Decorations
One of this past Holiday’s biggest stories was the Target breach. Our firm had two employees affected by the data theft and I am sure you may know a victim as well. The bad part is this just unleashed other stories of other breaches. I have come to the conclusion that in our digital world this is just part of living. It is almost like driving, at some point you are going to get hit or hit somebody else, but you still will drive with that certainty.
In this month’s Diversified Cyber Risks and Liabilities Newsletter we address the need for Data Breach coverage. We explain four common areas of exposure to you, your employees and customers: Data Breach, System Failure, Cyber Extortion and Business Interruption from Cyber Crime.
We also share some other eye opening topics this month. Is your mobile banking app a good idea? Check out the statistics and you decide. If you and your employees or co-workers use their own devices to hook up to work, smartphones, laptops, tablets etc. it is time to check your BYOD (bring your own device) procedures.

A Message From The Chamber President & CEO

  2014....a year to emerge with the Chamber.
It is an exciting time in business as 2014 is here. The Whitehouse Area Chamber of Commerce  is experiencing growth in our business economy, simply drive on our roads and you can see it. The Chamber is continuing to evolve and adapt to the changing needs of the business community as it grows. The Chamber remains focused on critical issues for our region, and is expanding into developing areas with its affiliate, The Anthony Wayne Community Improvement Corporation. The Chamber also provides a forum for the business community to address issues that will enable our community to continue to experience the growth it has in the past, into the future. The private sector has a key leadership role to play in driving the dialog on the issues and needs of the future - items such as our area's sign code and zoning needs, parking, our future workforce, educational needs and more. I encourage you to use the Chamber as a means of developing relationships and participating in the dialog on these and other priority issues. I also encourage you to commit to making the most of the Whitehouse Area Chamber this year, and if you're not already a member, join today. I look forward to working with you and your business to ensure we remain one of the best places in the nation to do business. Have a great month as we start a new year!

Onward;

Joshua Torres

The Whitehouse Area Chamber's Mobile app is called Chamber Intelligence for a very good reason. It is a fully interactive mobile application that begins to take our Chamber of Commerce mobile. Members can update parts of their community advertising, TCS page information, create / edit coupons, chamber daily deals, post to the chamber social network right from their phone. The public will find valuable information on the community and the members easily through our newly updated mobile member directory, calendars and more. Visitors can even use their phone to create reminders to events and quickly share deals and members ads to others. The system offers a rather advanced electronic special offer and coupon publishing program to every participating member. This allows you to create offers that immediately post onto the community / Chamber website, mobile applications, member traffic catcher website, member directory and any other websites using this code to enhance their own content. In addition, you can submit a DAILY DEAL from the same module for approval. If this is a fantastic offer (as explained in the module) then it will be approved and electronically broadcast to every Daily Deal Subscriber in the community. You can also add this service to your current website (if you have one) and social networks. Then, whenever you update your deals it will update every site in your network all at once... amazing. To learn more about how to upload your member coupons and specials, contact the Chamber to register for a Chamber 101 open lab.
