This workshop is ideal for horse owners who are interested in improving their pastures.\n \nThe classroom-based program will focus on understanding pasture management basics and relating them to your own operation. Specific topics of discussion will include identifying goals for your pasture, evaluating and improving existing pasture, understanding renovation and new pasture establishment, and improving grazing management to increase forage supply. Meaghan Anderson, Extension Field Agronomist in central Iowa, and Peggy Auwerda, Associate Professor and Extension Equine Specialist with Iowa State University, will lead the class.\n \n“This workshop will be an opportunity to better understand the basics of pasture management in order to keep pastured horses in good condition and maintain pasture productivity long into the future,” Anderson notes.\n \nThis program will be held on July 13 from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Registration is $30 per person or $45 per couple and will cover the cost of materials and refreshments. Checks may be made out to Warren County Extension and mailed to 200 W 2nd Ave., Indianola, IA 50125 or registration may be paid the day of the program via credit card, cash or check.
