SUMMARY:Alluring Landscapes in Glass & Light: Kiln fused glass paintings by Scandia Wood-Blackwell
LOCATION:Kirkland Arts Center, 620 Market Street, Kirkland, WA, 98033
DESCRIPTION:Alluring Landscapes in Glass & Light: Kiln fused glass paintings by Scandia Wood-Blackwell\n\n06/20/26 11:00 AM PST\n - 06/20/26 04:00 PM PST\Description:\nArtist statement:\n\nPainting with art glass is an amazingly creative process that offers me the opportunity to design a painting that can then be displayed in multiple ways and even shapes. Glass fused paintings can take advantage of light in a way that painting on a canvas does not. I quite often create translucent paintings that are to be displayed in/on a stand by layering sheets of specialty glass together underneath the painted layers. This technique I use allows the fused glass landscapes to convey a sense of how the ever-changing light from the skies above throughout the course of a day influences what we see when we experience a scenic vista out in nature.\n\n \n\nExhibit language:\n\nScandia Wood-Blackwell is a longtime local WA State glass artist creating landscape paintings by layering varying forms of compatible art glass and kiln-forming techniques to complete her art pieces. The Kirkland Arts Center (main gallery) exhibit is Scandia’s first formal exhibit and she has created numerous new paintings for this event. Artwork displayed will include a wide-range of sizes and prices from framed wall art to standing paintings created for front and backlit viewing.\n\n \n\nGallery Hours:\n\nTuseday through Friday, 11-4pm\n\nSaturday 11-3pm\n\nSunday, Monday CLOSED\n\Details:\nFree to the public\n\nArtist talk on June 13th\Location:\nKirkland Arts Center\n620 Market Street\nKirkland, WA 98033
