Angler's Choice is proud to host the 5th annual Marion Chamber Bass Tournament. 30% of entry fees will go toward the Marion Chamber Scholarship Program. The Marion Chamber of Commerce currently offers two scholarships: John A. Logan College One Year Tuition Waiver and a Grad Spree Scholarship. The Marion Chamber of Commerce awards these scholarships based on the amount of money generated by the fundraising efforts from the previous year. The remaining monies will constitute plaques/trophies and gross cash purse.

The tournament fee is $70 per team and optional $10 for big bass at 100% payback. Entries will be limited to the first 150 teams. 


WEIGH IN PROCEDURE
All contestants are required to report to the weigh-in area on or before the announced times at the pre-tournament meeting. Contestants who are not checked in at weigh-in time shall be disqualified. No exceptions will be made to this rule.

HONORS AND AWARDS
Honors and awards will be presented immediately, after the final point tally on Sunday, March 15, 2015. Cash purse, less expenses, will be paid on the following basis: one in every 6 teams signed up.

PAYOUT
Based on number of boats at 70% minus expenses. Trophies shall be awarded to each team member of the first 3 teams and plaques for 1st big bass.
In case of ties, money will be combined and divided equally between the teams tied. Trophies for placing will be decided by a flip of the coin. Amounts will be dependent upon number of entries and shall be announced at the pre-tournament meeting. Any additional awards shall be announced at the pretournament meeting. Any Protest MUST be registered in writing with the Tournament Officials no later than 1 minute after weigh-in is closed.

PRE-TOURNAMENT MEETING
All team captains and members must attend a kickoff meeting Sunday, March 15 at 5:45 am Mack Marina. Failure for Team Captain, or team representative, to be present will be an automatic disqualification for that team, and entry fee shall be forfeited.

TEAMS
This will be a two (2) man buddy tournament. Each team will consist of a team captain and one (1) team members. Each team will be responsible for their boats and motors.

STARTING PROCEDURE
Details will be explained at the pre-tournament meeting. Date of entry WILL determine starting position.

OFF LIMITS
Macks Marina, docks, marked off limits areas and 50 yards from any gas pump.

TOURNAMENT FEES
The tournament fee of $70.00 (check or money order) per team and optional $10.00 for big bass at 100% pay back, MUST accompany each application. Entries will be limited to the first 150 teams. Make check or money order payable and mail to:

TOURNAMENT RULES
  1. TEAMS: This is a two (2) person team tournament open to any person 12 years of age or older. This tournament is open to all individuals who meet the age requirements. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian in the boat.
  2. Fishing Rules: Fishing will be for small mouth & large mouth black bass only. Fishing shall be from boat only. All bass must be caught live and in a conventional sporting manner.
  3. Fishing will be by cast and retrieve method or by flipping or jigging. Trolling is not allowed.
  4. No live or prepared bait may be used with the exception of pork rinds, strips, or chunks.
  5. Electronic depth finders, thermometers and oxygen meters and graphs are permitted.
  6. No more than one rod per person is permitted in use at any one time under ANY circumstances. Any number of additional rigged rods are permitted as spares.
  7. Bass will be weighed in by boats. Scoring for teams will be by boats only.
  8. Tournament Limits: Days limit for each boat shall be five (5) bass. Possession of more than five (5) bass per boat will result in team disqualification. Attempting to give bass to another boat will result in disqualification.
  9. Boat identification strips will be issued and must be attached as directed, to remain in place throughout the tournament. Fishing is to be done from a boat at all times. Boats of 14' or more in length may be used. Any motor less than 9.0 horsepower may not be used.
  10. All boats must conform to state boating regulations. NOTE: All boats must be equipped with electric aerators installed within live wells or with electric aerator devices within an ice chest or similar container. NOTE: There will be no horsepower limit.
  11. Safety: Every participant must have their life jacket on and secured (zipped, buttoned, etc.) at all times when the outboard engine is running. If the boat is equipped with a kill switch it must also be utilized at all times when the outboard engine is running. If weather or safety prohibits the completion of the scheduled tournament, said tournament can be cancelled or postponed at the discretion of tournament officials. Any no wake or no fishing areas will be designated at the pre-tournament meeting.
  12. Sportsmanship: Courtesy, Conservation, Sportsmanship and Safety. Poor sportsmanship, drunkenness, excessive speed, lawbreaking, or misrepresenting one’s catch will be grounds for disqualification from this tournament. Tournament Officials will have the final word on disqualifications.
  13. Scoring: Only largemouth black bass or small mouth bass, 16" or more in length, will be weighed for scoring purposes. Scoring will be determined by pounds and ounces. Bass will not be counted or weighed if they are not at least 16" in length measured with mouth closed to the top of pinched tail. A flat bump board will be used. (Golden Rule type.) Fish failing to measure 16" on the official board will not be weighed in and assessed a ONE (1) POUND penalty. Short fish will be subject to possible legal action for possession of undersized fish. The team weighing in the most pounds and ounces of bass is the tournament champion. The dead fish penalty will be ONE (1) POUND per fish. If a team’s final creel contains three (3) or more dead fish, that team will be disqualified as an adequate livewell system has not been maintained. 1 pound penalty weight will be for every dead fish including largest bass.
  14. Local, State and Federal regulations apply to this tournament. Any contestant cited for violation of fish or boating regulations will be disqualified for entire tournament. Contestant operating boat at time of citation will be responsible.
  15. Further clarification of the rules will be made at the pretournament meeting.
  16. Lake Headquarters: Lake headquarters and weigh-in site shall be Macks Marina. Representatives of the Tournament Rules Committee shall be on hand during fishing hours.
  17. All contestants may be asked to take a voice stress analysis and/or polygraph test. Refusal to take such a test will result in automatic disqualification for the entire team. The pre-tournament meeting will be held at the ramp morning of the tournament at 5:45 am.
