Free Adult Mental Health First Aid Training - Open to the Community

Event Description
Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders or someone struggling with suicidal thoughts or behaviors. This 8-hour training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to appropriate care. After attending the full training you will receive a certification similar to that of CPR and First Aid.

• Common signs and symptoms
of mental illness.
• Common signs and symptoms
of substance use.
• How to interact with a person
in crisis.
• How to connect the person
with help.
• NEW: How to administer naloxone
in the event of an opioid overdose.

Details
The training is free of charge to everyone planning to attend and we do ask that you are 18 years or older! We do not provide lunch so there will be a scheduled lunch break as well as other breaks throughout the day! We will provide water and light snacks. Parking will be in the west parking lot of Preferred Family Healthcare and there will be signs posted on the entrance for easy navigation to the cafeteria. Please register through the Eventbrite link to reserve your seat as the training is limited to 30 participants.
