ArtHaus in Decorah is seeking artists of all types and stripes to cover the gallery with artwork of your pets. No mats or frames are necessary, each artwork will find a home in the gallery either with a pedestal, pushpin or nail. Artwork must be original and can be dropped off between 1-5 Monday-Friday until February 1 at the ArtHaus Gallery. The entry fee is $5 per piece.
Artists are encouraged (but not required) to sell their work with a silent auction bid form with proceeds going to Humane Society of NE Iowa. A closing reception with refreshments will take place March 29, where people may make their final bids and collect their artwork.
The Pet Show recognizes creative talent throughout Northeast Iowa; artists of all ages are encouraged to participate including beginners, emerging, established professionals, hobbyists, youngsters, college students, and retirees.
"Every year ArtHaus likes to celebrate the creative talents of all the people among us with an unjuried gallery show where the artists can bring in any type of work, at any skill level and share it with the community," says Executive Director Shannon Dallenbach Durbin. "This year's show features artists as young as six, to teens and throughout adulthood."
LuLu and BB's Pet Market are sponsoring the show, which can be viewed for free at the ArtHaus Gallery at 508 West Water Street from 1 pm-5pm Monday - Friday. Area artists will be greeting guests the first week of the show, starting with Matthew Alexander who will also be doing chair massages in the space on Tuesday, February 19.
A closing reception and silent auction will take place on March 29 from 7-8 pm with proceeds going to the Humane Society of NE Iowa.
