TRAVELING LIBRARY
Get ready!! Have books, will travel!! The Jo Kennon Public Library now has a traveling library; it is not a bookmobile, but a book wagon. We will be coming with library books to a location near you, so look for the blue wagon.
You may check out books, return books, or even sign up for a library card. The traveling wagon will return to each location every three weeks. A sign will be posted at each location with the date and times of the next visit.

The Jo Kennon Library has a new locking display case. There are 5 shelves, approximately 12” x 12”. The public is invited to put a display in the case. Stop by the library and sign up.

The Jo Kennon Library is pleased to announce that a fine art painting will be displayed each month. One of our patrons is a collector of fine art and has graciously offered to display one piece a month.
MAGNIFYING VIEWER
The Jo Kennon Library is pleased to announce that a magnifying viewer is available for use in the library or for checkout. Books, newspaper articles or any written materials can be enlarged. Stop by for a demonstration.
GROUPS USING THE MEETING ROOM

“Life After ___________” – Monica Serlick is using the meeting room for a discussion group about life changes. Monica has been part of the Live Oak community since 1998. She has a Masters degree in mental health counseling, is a Florida Human Services Board Certified Practitioner, and is a certified family life education therapist.
CHILDREN’S SUMMER READING PROGRAM
A UNIVERSE OF STORIES
The summer reading program entitled, A Universe of Stories, has its blast off on Wednesday, June 12 at 10:00 AM. A great program is planned. All aged children are welcome.
All children, regardless of age, are encouraged to sign up for the summer reading program. Prizes for reading books will be given away all summer. The staff has prepared some exciting activities:
Wednesdays at 2:30 PM – Story time (ages 3 - 5) – stories, songs, crafts and more
Fridays at 2:00 PM – Crafts and other projects (ages 6 and up)
Children are encouraged to stop by any time to do a craft or play with a maker-space.

FREE TUTORING
The Jo Kennon Dowling Park Public Library is now accepting applications for free tutoring. If your child is in the first – fifth grades and needs some one-on-one help with either reading or math, please stop by the library to fill out an enrollment form. Specific tutoring times will be determined by the child’s schedule.
ADULT SUMMER READING PROGRAM
Yes that is correct!! The adults are also going to have their own summer reading program. We are encouraging all residents of the Advent Christian Village and surrounding area to sign up. Registration is as simple as giving us your name; you may stop in or just simply call us. Upon registering, you will receive an entry into the prize drawing. For each book you read, each puzzle you do, or each activity you attend at the library you will receive and entry into the prize drawing. The more you read, the more entries you will receive. There will be nine prizes given away, one each week and then a grand prize at the conclusion of the program.
Our goal for the summer is to have each of you at the Village check out a book from the Jo Kennon Library. Stop by, visit the traveling library, or soon you can have books delivered to you by mail. Details for mail delivery will be forth coming.
MINIATURE GOLF
EVERY SATURDAY FROM 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Thanks to the generosity of the Advent Christian Village and the creativeness of the Jo Kennon staff, we now have an inside miniature golf course. There are six different and exciting holes, each very cleverly designed. This golf course will be set up in the meeting room every Saturday. Come in any time from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM and try your skill (luck).

Essential Oils as she teaches a class about the benefits and uses of essential oils, such as using them in your skin care routine, adding them to your food, using them to clean, or if you simply intend to make your home smell pleasant!

This group of children has been practicing for a lot of weeks under the direction of Richard and Barbara Phipps. They have given a concert at Dacier Manor and are now going to perform for the public. After the concert, we will have an ice cream social. All are invited.

The Jo Kennon Public Library would appreciate your donations of plastic shopping bags. If possible, smooth them out before donating.
We are looking for a small book shelf approximately 5 feet tall by 24” wide.
VOLUNTEERS
The library needs plarn (plastic yarn) makers. Literally thousands of bags have been donated and now it needs to be turned into plarn. Stop by the library for a quick lesson and supplies to make plarn. No experience is necessary.
