The tour will be led by local history expert Elizabeth Lorentzen, who is a volunteer docent at the Porter House Museum and a member of the Winneshiek County Historical Society.
Begin at the Porter House Museum at 1PM, the tour will take participants through a portion of the Broadway-Phelps Historic District. The last stop on the tour will be the Landers-Adams House at 302 W Broadway, which is the new headquarters of the Winneshiek County Historical Society. The duration of the tour will be on sidewalks of flat elevation for easy, comfortable walking.
Before and after the special tour, the public is invited to “porch” at the Porter House—to enjoy the afternoon while seated on the historic Queen Anne porches and enjoying refreshments and lemonade.
This event is the last of three free, special-topic tours in the new Summer Tour Series at the Porter House Museum. A free historic garden tour led by Peter van der Linden took place in June. A tour of the historic rock wall led by Larry Berland took place in July.
