WASHINGTON, D.C. – The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) is excited to announce its 40th National Convention—the largest annual gathering of Hispanic business leaders in the country—will be held September 29th – October 1st, 2019 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The annual convention is the premier event for America’s Hispanic business community, convening hundreds of Hispanic entrepreneurs, national and international corporate executives, top government officials, local Hispanic publishers, and representatives from more than 250 Latino chambers and business associations from throughout the United States of America.

“The USHCC was incorporated in 1979 in New Mexico, and it is with great pleasure that we announce that we are coming back home for the 2019 USHCC National Convention. Our 40th National Convention will be the largest gathering of Hispanic businesses in the U.S. and we are thrilled to be hosting it in Albuquerque, a city with a prominent Hispanic business community,” said Ramiro Cavazos, USHCC President & CEO. “The city of Albuquerque is emblematic of the Southwest and the country at large, with its vibrant multicultural history. With more than 157,257 small businesses, $3.7 billion in exports, and the largest Hispanic statewide population share nationally, New Mexico is the ideal location to celebrate the success of the growing Hispanic small business community.”

The 2019 USHCC National Convention Host Committee Co-Chairs will be Regina O. Heyward, Senior Vice President and Head of Supplier Diversity at Wells Fargo representing our USHCC corporate partner members, Rosa Santana, Founder and CEO of the Santana Group representing our USHCC Hispanic Business Enterprise (HBE) members, and we are honored that our host chamber, Ernie C’ de Baca, President & CEO of the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce will represent our hundreds of USHCC chambers. Together, they will lead a Host Committee of local, state, and national business leaders on fundraising and programming, making the 2019 USHCC National Convention the largest and most successful convention yet!

“Each year we bring our National Convention to a location that exemplifies a pro-business environment, embraces the power of diversity, and possesses a thriving Hispanic business community. Set against the backdrop of the beautiful Sandia Mountains, we believe that Albuquerque is the ideal location uniting these ideals,” said USHCC Chairwoman of the Board Carmen Castillo. “With an eye to the future, Albuquerque has cultivated a rich technology sector focusing on aerospace and defense, energy technology including solar energy, biotechnology, and more. We’re excited to work with Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller; Ernie C’ de Baca, President & CEO of the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce; and Synthia Jaramillo, Director of the City of Albuquerque’s Economic Development Department. Their support and hospitality make us extremely enthusiastic to bring the 2019 USHCC National Convention home to New Mexico.”

“New Mexico is the birthplace of the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and I’m incredibly excited to see it return for its 40th national convention,” Gov. Lujan Grisham said. “My administration has worked every day to establish a pro-business environment and facilitate organic, diversified economic growth. We have taken some important first steps, and an event like this one helps us continue to spread the message: New Mexico is open for business.”

“Albuquerque is excited to welcome the 40th USHCC National Convention to the Land of Enchantment,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “New Mexico’s compelling history, rich Hispanic cultural tradition, and scenic beauty make an excellent fit for the 2019 USHCC National Convention. A highly innovative and inclusive city, Albuquerque is a technological powerhouse and rising star in the small business market. We’re proud of the incredible diversity of our business community—where 40% of small businesses are owned by people of color—and our economic development strategy, led by the first-ever Latina Economic Development Director in Synthia Jaramillo, is heavily focused on small business and entrepreneurs. We can’t wait to showcase the best of what the Southwest has to offer to the Hispanic business community.”

“We are honored to welcome the 2019 USHCC National Convention to Albuquerque,” said Synthia Jaramillo, Director of Economic Development, City of Albuquerque. “Albuquerque’s demographics represent what the U.S. will look like in 10 years and with 40% of businesses owned by people of color, will provide a first-hand case study for convention attendees. The business climate and demographics mixed with our unique culture, scenic landscapes, and entertainment venues will undoubtedly provide an experience worthy of such a milestone as 40 years,” she added.

“On behalf of the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce, I would like to say welcome home!” said AHCC President and CEO Ernie C’ de Baca. “Our Latino chambers have seen tremendous growth since the humble origins of the USHCC in New Mexico and I am elated to come together forty years later to show the business world all the work we have done. I look forward to working with the USHCC and our own Convention & Tourism Department to help bring home the best USHCC National Convention yet.”

Signature events of the USHCC National Convention include our Women in Business and Leadership Luncheon where we celebrate trailblazing women who have reached the highest echelons of success in their fields and present the Excellence in Leadership Award, the Million Dollar Club (MDC), which recognizes companies that invest $25 million to $1 billion in Hispanic-owned businesses; the Supplier Diversity Luncheon, which pays tribute to our corporate partners with the largest supplier diversity spend with Hispanic Business Enterprises; the ERG Summit, which recognizes Employee Resource Groups (ERG) from Fortune 500 corporations demonstrating a commitment to increase diversity, creativity, and talent, and the HBE Elite Awards where we showcase high achieving Hispanic-owned businesses.
